My Thai Restaurant

My Thai Restaurant, Auchenflower

Finally, my holiday has started (well, sort of) before I start to embark on another journey on Monday.

After 'Relay for Life', I rushed home, get changed and rushed to My Thai Restaurant for dinner at 8 pm with G. Bookings are necessary for this place, especially on a Saturday. There is two booking time: one at 5.30 pm and another at 8 pm. I chose the later one knowing that I will be late.

Walking into the restaurant, you can definitely feel like you have step into one of the restaurants in Bangkok, Thailand. Waitresses were all dressed up in their traditional Thai costumes, the gold paint in the restaurant and not to forget the presence of holy statues.

Both of us were starving by then. We ordered the chicken satay for entree.

Satay Chicken $9
The chicken satay was really tender and soft; they were definitely grilled and not cooked using the traditional way which is over the charcoal. In comparison to the peanut sauce I had back in Malaysia which is usually crunchy with bits of peanuts, this one was smooth and creamy. The flavour was all right but really, you can't compare to the ones back home. :)

Next, we had the chicken green curry, after contemplating between red or green curry.

Gaeng Keo Wharn (Green Curry) - $19.90
The green curry was made of green chillies, bamboo shoots, capsicum, Thai basil and coconut milk. The flavour of the curry is pretty good, it wasn't that spicy.

Next, we ordered one of the chef's special: No 457

Chef Special 457 - 27.50

We were trying to order a more authentic Thai food and we ordered this dish. It was a steamed snapper fillet on a bed of vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, capsicum and courgette), topped with a unique sauce made with fresh green chillies, garlic, coriander, lemon juice and lemongrass. The fish was cooked to perfection, it was fresh and still moist. The unique sauce is indeed unique. I quite like the combination flavours of chilies, garlic and lemongrass.

Last but not least, I had to try their Pad Thai. I think Pad Thai is a must-try-dish when visiting a Thai restaurant.

Pad Thai - $18.90
Pad Thai is a dish of stir-fried flat noodles usually with bean sprouts, prawns, eggs and some other condiments. I think it is just the same like 'Char Koay Teow to Penang' and 'Pad Thai to Thailand'. :) My Thai restaurant cooked their Pad Thai with their own special sauce. It was pretty good although more on the sweet side. G commented that she had a better one in another Thai Restaurant.

We were so full and had to pack some back. Overall, it was good catching up with G before she heads off for her holiday. Both of us had been very busy and we barely see each other until the dinner.
