Malt Dining

Malt Dining, Brisbane CBD

Dear readers,

I am back for real this time! My final exams are over and results have been released! It is way forward from now on! After so many years of study and obstacles, I have finally achieved my dream. The long journey will not be successful without much perseverance, optimism and encouragement from my loved ones...

During my study, I am lucky to know a very loving and kind couple! As their pre-wedding celebration, a dinner was organised at Malt Dining. The restaurant arranged a table for 20 people down in their wine cellar. The ambience was really nice!

As there were so many of us, the dinner's entree and main meals have been decided prior! We were given complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar dip. The bread was warm and good.

Menu of the day!

For entree, we had either the options of seared scallops or duck tart tatin. Ahah! I was lucky to sit beside JaW and we agreed to share the entree, so i get to try both dishes.

The scallops were seared to perfection and the shallots definitely added a crunchier texture to the dish. The fig sauce was quite sweet and I was not fond of it, however JaW said the sauce was good.

On the other hand, I love the duck tart tatin! I thought the meat was quite tender and flavourful with the 'puff pastry'. JaW had the not-so-tender part so she preferred the scallops instead.

For mains, our alternate options were the chicken breast or the beef. As for myself, I had the sous vide chicken breast...

Hmm... My chicken breast was quite dry unfortunately. It is a mixed bag because my friend had the tender chicken breast. Putting that aside, the sauce was amazing and I love the potato galette. The broccolini and asparagus were cooked al dente, mixing with the green peas.

I did not try any of the beef but what I heard from my friends were 'fabulous' and 'delicious'.

The beef were cooked to medium rare and I think they were all cooked consistently. JaW really enjoyed this meal and gave it a two thumbs up! The servings for the main meals  were quite huge and I was quite satisfied after that.

But there are always room in my tummy for desserts! We had the special birthday cake from 'Lady Welsh'! It was heavenly...

We all had good times and and it was for a multitude of occasions, especially for almost of us, it meant the end of medical school! Yay!
