Colour Me Flavour

Image
Colour Me Flavour, Woolloongabba Back when I was still at work, my friendly superiors invited me for lunch at Colour Me Flavour, which is just a walking distance from Mater Hospital. I was confused by the name of this place when I first received the text message: 'Lunch at Colour Me' thinking whether it could be related to kids' food etc ... After consulting Mr Google, I realised that Colour Me Flavour specialises in modern Indian cuisine, this consolidated when I saw the interior design of this place. The varied lunch options were tantalizing enough that I was tempted to try a few of them. At a price ranging from $15- $16, I think it is relatively good. I was tossing between the pakoras but at the end, submitted to the stuffed naan.  Colour Me Flavour's menu The meal was beautifully constructed, with the lamb shish on a piece of roti, served with some sour cream and chutney. The chutney quite spicy, well balanced by the sour cream. I don't think I ...

Mamak Tandoori House

Image
Mamak Tandoori House, Camp Hill It has been so many months since I last had Indian food! I particularly have not attempted to cook any Indian dishes or curries due to their complexities in terms of the amount of spices used. Together with Simco and Symo, we went to Samuel St in Camp Hill to try Mamak Tandoori House which specialises in Malaysian and Indian dishes. The prices are really reasonable ranging from about $15.90 for the main curries. There are so many to choose from and we finally decided to have two curries, one briyani and one naan. So, what did we have? Bare in mind that all the curries 'heat' level start with medium and above!  First up, we had the lamb 'kapitan' curry which was the house specialty. I am not a big fan of lamb but this curry surprised me! The lamb was really tender and the curry just tasted so authentic.  Lamb Curry You will not miss the curry leaves and the 'blame-my-poor-spices-recognition' in the c...

Toowoomba

The Journey to the West!  It took less than 2 hours to Toowoomba (largest non-capital inland city) from Brisbane. Together with AQ, we were on the way to visit MXM. The weather wasn't promising with the grey clouds on the horizon. Anyway, first pit-stop: Engine Room Cafe Once in Toowoomba, MXM took control of the wheel and brought us sight-seeing. The 'city' is tiny in comparison to Brisbane! To fill our hungry tummies, we had brunch in Engine Room Cafe, with a souvenir shop attached to it.  We ordered at the counter and had a skinny flat white. I think the coffee was OK, I wasn't really a big fan of it.  Flat White - $3.70 AQ had French toast. He wiped clean his plate. I'm assuming it's good. French Toast As for myself, I ordered the Eggs Benedict. Eggs Benedict - $15 Poached eggs, hollandaise sauce with mushrooms and toast It's definitely not the best Eggs Benedict that I had. The hollandaise sauce was too...

Karma Indian & Nepalese Cuisine

Image
Karma Indian & Nepalese Cuisine, New Farm I was supposed to attend a friend's double celebration last Friday. Unfortunately, she wasn't feeling well and she had to cancel her party. Emmm... I was disappointed ( I was all dressed up! ). Luckily, Simco was nearby and I asked him whether he wanted dinner that night. Yes! We went to Karma Indian & Nepalese in New Farm. There wasn't many people in the restaurant in comparison to its neighbours. Anyway, we braved ourselves and took a seat outdoor. Since it's a combination of both Indian and Nepalese restaurant, we tried to order food from both types of cuisine. Caution ahead! *Sorry for the poor photo qualities. I misplaced my camera charger and have to use my old camera*  Free pappadums (cumin flavoured): Entree 1 (Nepalese) : Kukhura Sandheko -$7.90   This dish has grilled chicken breast marinated with lemon juice and spices, served on a bed of salad. It's a cold dish. I got no ...
