Milk Cafe, Ashgrove

Image
Milk Cafe, Ashgrove Throwback to late last year when we visited Milk Cafe in Ashgrove. It is just adjacent to Woolworths Ashgrove and you will not miss it. Plenty of parking is available in the complex. Famous for its milkshake, we did not order any as we get quite apprehensive when the kids are so high in sugar 😅. I could not remember the exact dish we had that day but the first dish was poached eggs with bacon, and cripsy potatoes with addition of haloumi. Little M dislikes cheese but she will gobble up the haloumi in no time. We had the pancakes as well and they were fluffy and soft. The girls thankfully enjoyed them, as sometimes they can be picky with their food.  The indoor setting is reasonably large and there is outdoor setting as well. Bonus--> it is part of the Entertainment book's voucher. But ya, we will be back one day.  Breakfast at Milk Cafe

Koto Sanpo

Image
Koto Sanpo, Brisbane CBD The second restaurant that we recently tried in FudoDori was Koto Sanpo. I am a big fan of anything match a and was excite d to be checking out this place. We arrived early around their opening hour of 11.30 am and the y were already quite busy. We were seated and after brow sing their extensive menu, Mr went to the counter for our order. As we were there for lunch, we ordered savoury meals rather than their sweets or desserts. But first up, a drink of match a is a must and for a basic mat cha latte, there are options of white chocolate, yuzu honey, rocky road or even c aramel matcha latte . I think it is best to try their basic matcha latte and it came in a rather huge ceramic bowl. I could not fault their mat cha latte at all. The latte was creamy and most importantly, not overly sweet and there ' s still hint of bitterness of matcha which is how I like mine.  Now for our main meals, Mr tried their chicken karaage curry ($15.80) and surpri...

Southside Bistro

Image
Southside Bistro, Sunnybank On a rather early weekend, Mr and myself visited Southside Bistro prior to visiting the in-law. We normally visit the Asian breakfast places in Sunnybank and this time decided to give Southside Bistro a go, especially when we can utilise the Entertainment book voucher. Their menu here is very enticing with Asian influenced dishes. I was definitely keen to try a few of them and in the end, I chose the 'Breakfast Puffle ' just because I want some egg puffles! It is a fusion Asian breakfast (oolong egg tea, rice with Kimchi and also some pork floss) and was topped with deep fried youtiao (aka fried chinese bread stick). It all does sound good right? Breakfast puffle But I was quite disappointed with this dish... The puffle does not taste like it was freshly made, the rice was not warm enough (more like lukewarm for me) and overall, quite a dry dish with the sauce being only mayo. Hmm... my excitement has definitely dwindled down after this di...

Two Black Birds Cafe

Image
Two Black Birds Cafe, Brisbane CBD We chanced upon this cafe after Grace's swimming class back in early January when most cafes are still having their holiday. While Mr finds a parking spot, I ordered ' The Butcher's Block ' for him, and a ham and cheese croissant for Grace. I was interested in their Matcha Latte ($5.50) which is made of coconut milk with sprinkles of cinnamon. It is definitely not the usual matcha latte that I had previously, this one more chai based... and I thought it was okay. Certainly much prefer the usual matcha latte.  The croissant came toasted and was quite good. Grace managed to have a few bites and we gave it a pass. The Butcher's block aka Big's Breakfast was generous. I like it that it came with house made baked beans and it was flavourful. The scrambled eggs were creamy and cooked to perfection. Overall, a very fulfilling meal. They have other interesting dish on their menu that day, and this is one p...

Miss Jones

Image
Miss Jones, New Farm Excuse me Grace, will it be all right if we go to Miss Jones for brunch and then go to your park later? I am so due for a brunch with ChaMo and so happy that we both got the same Friday off and I suggested visiting Miss Jones. Why not? When I can bring Grace to her favourite park in New Farm after that. This is called opportunistic parenting, ahaha. Parking can be tricky and busy, but luckily for us I managed to park across the road from Miss Jones. I would suggest parking on the road of Balfour St and then walk there. Anyhow, back to Miss Jones. It is a fairly small cafe and seats were still plentiful that Fri morning. But wait till the 10 am coffee rush, people just started coming in for their takeaway coffees. As we were still early, I ordered a croissant ($5) for Grace. They were nicely toasted and served with soft butter and blueberry jam. She ate few bites and had enough. Well too bad, I finished them off! The breakfast menu here ...

Willow and Spoon

Image
Willow and Spoon, Windsor Finally on a child free day (Grace's first day in childcare), Mr and myself went out for a lunch date at Willow and Spoon. Certainly it was not a romantic setting, but we appreciate this little moment we have together. I think couples deserve this time together if possible!  Parking was easy to find along the street, and there are plenty of seats at the back of the cafe. I have been here years ago and it has been upgraded with new paint and design. It is bright and lovely. Willow and Spoon's menu After browsing the menu, I knew what I want straightaway. I previously had a waffle dish (could not be bothered to blog about this place or maybe I should?) in another cafe and was so disappointed. I need to satisfy that craving and hence, ordered the Southern Fried Chicken with waffle . It turned out to be an amazing dish! Seriously love the crunchy fried chicken and it was paired beautifully with the waffle. The honey and bourbon beans were qui...

Bris Bean Cafe

Image
Bris Bean Cafe, Enoggera It is nice to have some cafes around the suburbs as I really miss my previous old place where I could just walked out across the road and visit one. So when I realised Bris Bean which is not too far away from home, we went there for a short lunch.  Ordering is at the counter and seats were plenty (whether indoor or outdoor). I ordered a flat white for myself and it was decent. I enjoyed the brownie that came with it. What a nice touch! As for lunch, we had the Brisburger which came with spiced beef burger and beetroot relish. The beef burger was quite moist, and not dry at all and quite delicious with the beetroot relish. It was a decent burger.  Besides that, we tried the scrambled eggs in avo. The cheesy scrambled eggs were served on top of avocado and ciabatta. I thought those eggs were cooked quite well, with crispy bacon bits. The salad do look a little dull though...  Overall, quite a good effort from Bris ...
