Second day: Belgium!

Hot chocolate in one of the cafe in Brugge. I have to add the chocolate pieces into the frothy milk, interesting!

In the same cafe, we bought some macaroons and some French pastry: palmiers. I prefer the palmiers.

In the Christmas market in Brugge! Went window shopping here until night. After that, we continued our journey to Brussels and overnight there in a Chinese Hotel.

Manneken-Pis: a small, black statue of a young boy "taking a pee"! The statue is said to represent the mischievous side of the citizens of Brussels. As it was nearing Christmas, the statue is dressed! Apparently, it has different outfits for different occasions...

Famous for its waffles, my brother and I had some waffles. They were really good but i still prefer the plain one (just with icing sugar). I think it was about 3-4 euros for the plain ones.

In the afternoon, we went to Brussels Atomium, built for the World Fair in 1958. Moving on to Germany the next day!

Ponycat, New Farm It has been a while since my last visit to Ponycat, and together with hubby, we visited this cafe ( a few months ago now ). It was not busy when we got there, and finally after browsing the chalk-board menu, we made our choices promptly. Toowoomba

The Journey to the West!  It took less than 2 hours to Toowoomba (largest non-capital inland city) from Brisbane. Together with AQ, we were on the way to visit MXM. The weather wasn't promising with the grey clouds on the horizon. Anyway, first pit-stop: Engine Room Cafe Once in Toowoomba, MXM took control of the wheel and brought us sight-seeing. The 'city' is tiny in comparison to Brisbane! To fill our hungry tummies, we had brunch in Engine Room Cafe, with a souvenir shop attached to it.  We ordered at the counter and had a skinny flat white. I think the coffee was OK, I wasn't really a big fan of it.  Flat White - $3.70 AQ had French toast. He wiped clean his plate. I'm assuming it's good. Newmarket Hotel

  Newmarket Hotel, Newmarket  Newmarket Hotel has been on our regular place to visit as it is quite a family friendly restaurant; and obviously quite close to home. It can get quite busy at times but as we usually dine when restaurants open (5 or 5.30pm) so it was not too bad. Parking is ample with the complex's undercover parking. What I love about Newmarket hotel is that they do have kid's meal and Grace always enjoy their chicken tenders. Yay! The kid's meal come with a drink (and the drink container can be brought home) and ice cream for dessert. No photo for her meal but we ordered it with steamed vegetables. If you are a seafood lover, give their calamari a go! They are beautifully crumbed and cooked just right. This is an entree size but you can upgrade to the main size.
