Kamikaze Teppanyaki, Westfield Garden City

Anyone reads the free weekly Chinese newspapers that can be collected in Sunnybank? Although I cannot read Mandarin and barely speaks Mandarin now, I enjoy looking through the advertisements particularly regarding opening of new restaurants or even what is up on offer!

Ahhaha, thanks to my MIL, Kamikaze Teppanyaki had a voucher for 'Buy 1 get 1 free' for bento, ramen or udon meals. After dropping off Grace at the in-laws, Mr and myself made our way to Garden City to have lunch at Kamikaze. As we were there right at the lunch opening hour, we were the first customer to arrive. A menu was given and I so want a bento set and ordered the unagi, and the prawn tempura ramen.

Sitting outside, we could see one chef getting the teppanyaki table ready and soon after could see him performing 'fire ball'. Well, he was entertaining other guests with his culinary fire skills. 😊 


Our meals arrived shortly and I was happy with the unagi bento set. It came with sides of garden salad, gyoza, spring rolls and seaweed salad. I love grilled eel and I think this hit the spot! If only there was more of the sauce for the rice as well. The gyoza and spring rolls are all right, tasted better with the dipping sauce. As for the garden salad's dressing, it was not something I expect. It tasted more like grated ginger and garlic dressing, which was OK.

Hmm... as for the ramen, it was only passable... It is definitely not the same standard as Hakataya Ramen or Taro's ramen. The pork broth's flavour was milder in taste and not as in depth. The tempura were done quite well and the prawn was fresh and tasty. So that was a bonus.

We both concur that the unagi bento set was the winner.

Tibetan Kitchen, West End Finally, I have the time to catch up on blogging! Yay! After a sweaty and tired workout in Urban Climb for an indoor rock-climbing (more than a month ago!) , the five of us made our way to Tibetan Kitchen for a late dinner. It was a Friday night and there was people bustling around Trang and its neighbour, Tibetan Kitchen. Haven't had the taste or any clues about Tibetan food, we were lucky because one of our company had spent his time in Tibet for a month. Newmarket Hotel

  Newmarket Hotel, Newmarket  Newmarket Hotel has been on our regular place to visit as it is quite a family friendly restaurant; and obviously quite close to home. It can get quite busy at times but as we usually dine when restaurants open (5 or 5.30pm) so it was not too bad. Parking is ample with the complex's undercover parking. What I love about Newmarket hotel is that they do have kid's meal and Grace always enjoy their chicken tenders. Yay! The kid's meal come with a drink (and the drink container can be brought home) and ice cream for dessert. No photo for her meal but we ordered it with steamed vegetables. If you are a seafood lover, give their calamari a go! They are beautifully crumbed and cooked just right. This is an entree size but you can upgrade to the main size. I tried their fish - special of the day; barramundi with some crispy pumpkin/potatoes and the 'sauce'. Honestly, I did not expect it, as this was more like a gravy sauce dish. The portion was

Milk Cafe, Ashgrove

  Milk Cafe, Ashgrove Throwback to late last year when we visited Milk Cafe in Ashgrove. It is just adjacent to Woolworths Ashgrove and you will not miss it. Plenty of parking is available in the complex. Famous for its milkshake, we did not order any as we get quite apprehensive when the kids are so high in sugar 😅. I could not remember the exact dish we had that day but the first dish was poached eggs with bacon, and cripsy potatoes with addition of haloumi. Little M dislikes cheese but she will gobble up the haloumi in no time. We had the pancakes as well and they were fluffy and soft. The girls thankfully enjoyed them, as sometimes they can be picky with their food.  The indoor setting is reasonably large and there is outdoor setting as well.
