Passione Gelateria & Dessert Bar, Tenerrife



Quite a while ago, ET celebrated her birthday in Passione Gelateria & Dessert Bar. Not opened on Monday, we waited until Tuesday for their food, especially their desserts.

Trying to keep our stomach relatively empty, we ordered two entrees and one main to share among the five of us. First, the 'Grilled Prawns'. They were simple and fresh.

Grilled Prawns on skewers -$14.50
Next, the 'Breads and Dips'. Freshly toasted breads with three accompaniments (tzatziki, olive and beetroot dips). Each of us has our own favourites but I would have to go for the tzatziki since I'm neither an olive nor beetroot fan.

Breads and Dips - $9.50
For mains, we had spaghetti carbonara. Either we were still hungry or the pasta too moreish, this dish was gone quick! The consistency of the sauce was just right and not too creamy. Carbonara is quite simple to make and Passione certainly did not mess it up.

Finally the desserts! Yay!

Dessert No. ONE:
Apple and Rhubarb Crumble - $15.90

Guess what? I've never eaten rhubarb in my entire life until that night. Reading pages of organic chemistry textbook, rhubarb's pic appeared in one of the pages telling us that rhubarb leaves are toxic. That's my first rhubarb encounter. 

Anyway, back to the crumble. The custard was light and the sweetness just perfect. The crumbles were delectable, its texture contrasting the ever-soft apples and rhubarbs pieces. Yum!

Dessert No. TWO: Belgian Waffles
Strawberry Perfection - $16

Having tried the real Belgian waffles in Brussels, this dessert was a little disappointing for me. Don't get me wrong, it was still pretty good nevertheless. Somehow the texture wasn't as thick and dense as those i tried before. Passione's waffles were lighter and not as sweet. The chocolate ganache certainly made up for it!

Sorry, taken a bad pic here! The gelato has already started to melt. I think the five of us agreed that their gelato was pretty good. They were smoooooth!


We had an enjoyable time in Passione. I will definitely be back to try more of their gelato and desserts on offer.

  Newmarket Hotel, Newmarket  Newmarket Hotel has been on our regular place to visit as it is quite a family friendly restaurant; and obviously quite close to home. It can get quite busy at times but as we usually dine when restaurants open (5 or 5.30pm) so it was not too bad. Parking is ample with the complex's undercover parking. What I love about Newmarket hotel is that they do have kid's meal and Grace always enjoy their chicken tenders. Yay! The kid's meal come with a drink (and the drink container can be brought home) and ice cream for dessert. No photo for her meal but we ordered it with steamed vegetables. If you are a seafood lover, give their calamari a go! They are beautifully crumbed and cooked just right. This is an entree size but you can upgrade to the main size. Milk Cafe, Ashgrove

  Milk Cafe, Ashgrove Throwback to late last year when we visited Milk Cafe in Ashgrove. It is just adjacent to Woolworths Ashgrove and you will not miss it. Plenty of parking is available in the complex. Famous for its milkshake, we did not order any as we get quite apprehensive when the kids are so high in sugar 😅. I could not remember the exact dish we had that day but the first dish was poached eggs with bacon, and cripsy potatoes with addition of haloumi. Little M dislikes cheese but she will gobble up the haloumi in no time. We had the pancakes as well and they were fluffy and soft. The girls thankfully enjoyed them, as sometimes they can be picky with their food.  The indoor setting is reasonably large and there is outdoor setting as well. Toowoomba

The Journey to the West!  It took less than 2 hours to Toowoomba (largest non-capital inland city) from Brisbane. Together with AQ, we were on the way to visit MXM. The weather wasn't promising with the grey clouds on the horizon. Anyway, first pit-stop: Engine Room Cafe Once in Toowoomba, MXM took control of the wheel and brought us sight-seeing. The 'city' is tiny in comparison to Brisbane! To fill our hungry tummies, we had brunch in Engine Room Cafe, with a souvenir shop attached to it.  We ordered at the counter and had a skinny flat white. I think the coffee was OK, I wasn't really a big fan of it.  Flat White - $3.70 AQ had French toast. He wiped clean his plate. I'm assuming it's good.
