Bam Bam Bakehouse

Bam Bam Bakehouse, Gold Coast

I am probably one of the last foodie to have tried Bam Bam Bakehouse! It has been on my wish list for a very long time, and one day Mr suggested we go to the coast since we are both not working over the weekend. It is a rare opportunity and I told him we must visit Bam Bam. Hehe!

We used GPS to navigate ourselves there and the bakehouse is situated in a fairly interesting location, next to a children's park and playground (bonus!). Parking can be quite tricky until we realised we could have parked next to the playground from the back. It was already quite packed when we got there in the morning, but thankfully still have seats available.

Their menu does seem to have some Asian influenced such as the 'Egg nasi, karaage chicken burger or even the pork belly banh mi' which in hindsight, I probably should have ordered one of them.

Are you a Barbie or a Mermaid fan? I ended up ordering the Barbie hot chocolate which consisted of rose and white chocolate and loved it! Loved the pinkish colour and most importantly the hint of rose. Yum!

Anyhow, back to us! I know they are famous for their pastry so I ordered a plain croissant with their house preserve for Grace. She just had a few bites and then pushed it away. Maybe I have been spoilt by Hugs on Days, and I thought their croissant is better? Bam Bam's plain croissant was more soft and not as crispy.

I ordered the 'Bam Bam Benny' for the Mr, and it came with tarragon hollandaise with quite a generous amount of ham. The eggs were poached to perfection, still runny and overall a decent meal.

As for myself, I tried their 'Sweetcorn Fritters' - Jalapeno and queso fresco sweetcorn fritters, poached egg, avocado, baby coriander and chipotle crema. The flavours were simple and on the spot, and you can add more or less of the chipotle crema for different level of spiciness. Overall, quite a good meal.

I could not leave Bam Bam Bakehouse without trying out one of their sweets and pastries from their open display. As I could only choose one, I got this choux pastry as a takeaway, and had it for supper. Very creamy and delicious, and thankfully the sweetness was not over the top.

Bam Bam is certainly a cool place to visit at least once. Their innovative pastries and sweets are definitely worth a try if you stop by. For their meals though, probably just above average for me.
