This visit was nearly a month ago when MXM came over to visit from Toowoomba. We just finished our exams and it's time to catch up again. Shucked Coffee House was on his wishlist and we headed there on a weekday. It is hidden among the automobile dealers and quite surprised that they are doing well despite its location.



The best part on eating out on Monday? There was no queue! Unfortunately, they were quite short-staffed then and the specials of the days were only available (instead of the usual menu). 

MXM had his usual flat white while I opted for my chai.

We both enjoyed our drinks. It seems like chai is my go-to-drink after exams. The coffee and chai were both excellent. I love their tea pot!

With four options to choose from (wild rabbit ragout, roast vegetable stack, lentil + tomato soup and savoury mince), we finally opted for:


Roast Vegetable Stack -$18
with grilled polenta and capsicum tapenade

 I had the roast vegetable stack. Haloumis and grilled zucchinis on a bed of grilled polenta. Anything with haloumi makes me happy and this dish certainly had done that. The capsicum tapenade and pesto on the sides add flavours to the otherwise plain polenta.

MXM tried their wild rabbit ragout and it was his first time trying rabbit meat (me too actually). I think he enjoyed the pasta. I had a taste and it was all right. I just think that it was a bit watery ...

We both had a good time in Shucked Coffee House. The service was faultless and the food was enjoyable although I wish to try their regular meals. I guess I have to return one day! :)

Tibetan Kitchen, West End Finally, I have the time to catch up on blogging! Yay! After a sweaty and tired workout in Urban Climb for an indoor rock-climbing (more than a month ago!) , the five of us made our way to Tibetan Kitchen for a late dinner. It was a Friday night and there was people bustling around Trang and its neighbour, Tibetan Kitchen. Haven't had the taste or any clues about Tibetan food, we were lucky because one of our company had spent his time in Tibet for a month. He did warned us beforehand that the food here wasn't as authentic as the food in Tibet though.  Anyway, after much contemplation, we ordered: Pakhora Onion Baje - 6.90 Crispy fried onion patties served with yoghurt & cucumber sauce The pakhora was all right. It could be better with more onions maybe? Newmarket Hotel

  Newmarket Hotel, Newmarket  Newmarket Hotel has been on our regular place to visit as it is quite a family friendly restaurant; and obviously quite close to home. It can get quite busy at times but as we usually dine when restaurants open (5 or 5.30pm) so it was not too bad. Parking is ample with the complex's undercover parking. What I love about Newmarket hotel is that they do have kid's meal and Grace always enjoy their chicken tenders. Yay! The kid's meal come with a drink (and the drink container can be brought home) and ice cream for dessert. No photo for her meal but we ordered it with steamed vegetables. If you are a seafood lover, give their calamari a go! They are beautifully crumbed and cooked just right. This is an entree size but you can upgrade to the main size. I tried their fish - special of the day; barramundi with some crispy pumpkin/potatoes and the 'sauce'. Honestly, I did not expect it, as this was more like a gravy sauce dish. The portion was

Milk Cafe, Ashgrove

  Milk Cafe, Ashgrove Throwback to late last year when we visited Milk Cafe in Ashgrove. It is just adjacent to Woolworths Ashgrove and you will not miss it. Plenty of parking is available in the complex. Famous for its milkshake, we did not order any as we get quite apprehensive when the kids are so high in sugar 😅. I could not remember the exact dish we had that day but the first dish was poached eggs with bacon, and cripsy potatoes with addition of haloumi. Little M dislikes cheese but she will gobble up the haloumi in no time. We had the pancakes as well and they were fluffy and soft. The girls thankfully enjoyed them, as sometimes they can be picky with their food.  The indoor setting is reasonably large and there is outdoor setting as well. Bonus--> it is part of the Entertainment book's voucher. But ya, we will be back one day.  Breakfast at Milk Cafe
